Rage 3D installation
Your computer must have a 15 pin game port and Windows 95.
- Plug the Rage 3D connector into the game port.
- Need to power down? It's good practice to shut off your computer's power before plugging in a peripheral. This is especially advisable if a connector is hard to reach or if many cables are attached to your computer. Power down your system, plug in the control(s), and make sure all other connectors are secure before powering your system back up.
- Have a network card installed in your computer? Some network and video cards have 15 pin connectors that look like a game port connector. If you have one of these cards, protect your equipment by plugging the Rage 3D only into the game port.
- If you have other Rage game pads to install for multi-player games, chain the connectors as shown in the diagram. Up to four Rage game pads may be chained together.
- Put the Rage installation CD into your system's CD ROM drive.
- If your system is set up to automatically read a newly inserted CD, the opening screen for installation will appear.
- If your system doesn't launch the installation software automatically, double-click on the My Computer icon, and then double-click on the CD ROM drive icon to launch the installer.
- The Choose Installation window appears showing the list of available software.
If this is the first installation from this CD, choose the ThrustMaster software from the list and click on OK. If a previous version of the ThrustMaster software is detected you will be given the choice to Update the software or Cancel.
If you are installing a game, select the game software from the list and click on OK. Control of the installation process will now pass to the game's installer. Use the Exit button to quit the installation process, if desired.
Note: The installation software installs only one software package each time it is run.
The remaining steps apply only to installation of ThrustMaster's software.
- The Main Setup Panel appears. Click on Next to proceed to the next step, or Cancel to halt the installation process.
- The default destination directory is displayed in the next screen. Use the Browse button to change the destination directory, if needed. Click on Next to proceed to the next step.
- Installation now takes place. When installation ends, a dialog box appears asking if you wish to start the Activator. Click on Yes.
! If you ever add or remove Rage 3D pads in your setup, re-run the Activator.
- You can test all the controls on installed Rage game pads within the Activator.
Press a button on a control and the appropriate player position in a corner of the Activator panel will become active. In the large central Rage graphic, each position control (axis) has an animated display to show control movement, and each button lights up when pressed.
To test another control (if more than one Rage game pad is installed), leave the other controls alone and press a button on the new control until it becomes the active control in the Activator panel.
- Click on the Activate button to select the Rage 3D control(s) under Windows 95.
You do not need to set up the Rage 3D with the Windows joystick control panel; clicking on Activate in the Activator does this work for you.
- To use the newly installed ThrustMaster software, you must reboot your computer. A dialog box is displayed and asks if you wish to do this.
- If you wish to install any bundled software that came with your Rage 3D, repeat steps 5 and 6.
